On behalf of the Long Beach Component, I would like to congratulate the 2011 Dental Hygiene graduates. I am delighted to welcome all potential members. Our component has exciting plans for the coming year. We encourage any of you interested in getting involved with your local component to do so! LBDHS has an enthusiastic community of Dental Hygiene professionals who enjoy meeting with other RDH's.

LBDHS provides its members with employment referrals, newsletters, continuing education courses and volunteer opportunities. This year we will have 3 dinner meetings with speakers, CPR renewal, as well as two Saturday seminars. In a 2 year cycle we provide ALL the courses that are required for license renewal at a member discounted rate. Our meetings are held in the Long Beach, Seal Beach, Cypress and Cerritos area. Members from other components are welcome at all of our programs. We are also teaming up with our neighboring Orange County Component this year for their 2nd Annual Free Dental Clinic where they provide services to 100 women and children from Collette’s Children’s Home. LBDHS will be assisting with educating women and their children on varies health issues as well as entertaining the children while they wait for services. Please share your ideas and concerns with our executive board. We welcome your suggestions and ideas for speakers or community service programs. I would like to thank our current members for their continued support and I am looking forward to seeing you at our upcoming meetings. Additionally, I would like to thank our board members for their incredible dedication; they serve in order to keep the voice of dental hygiene alive.

As your local component we will continue to listen to your needs and work together with our state and national associations to preserve the advancement and vitality of our profession.
