| Greetings.
A Message from our President Elect
Debbie Hartman
It's dynamic times in the world of dental hygiene. Legislative
issues, research, Internet communications and efforts
towards autonomy are just a few issues of interest.
Impressive and respectable goals are set for the future
on a national, state and local level. Supporting your
profession is maintaining its value.
Personal life and professional careers follow varied
paths through time. We make choices and prioritize through
life's events.
With the best interests of families, it sometimes
means taking time for ourselves. We are service providers
over all. We may have children, parents, friends or
a combination of others that rely on us for care. In
order to continue to do so with willingness and good
health, we need to make time for our individual responsibilities
and personal well being.
While prioritizing your values, hopefully your dental
hygiene profession will rank high. Time is a commodity
for all of us. The component would love your participation.
This may include attendance at CE meetings or volunteering
on a committee. Or it may just be giving input for speakers,
topics or even constructive criticism to improve our
component.
If your time is not available to give, then support
your profession through membership and encourage co-workers
to do the same. Our strength in numbers, through membership,
is extremely valuable to our leaders, who lobby for
our profession in the legislature. We can't imagine
competing dollar-wise with those opposing our views
and efforts in Sacramento. However, we can link value
to our agenda with assertions of a strong affiliation.
