We are currently seeking a Department Chair, Dental Hygiene for our North Hollywood Campus AND a Dental Hygiene Instructor for our Orange County Campus.  This is an outstanding opportunity for a professional to join a growing school as we build a unique Bachelor Degree program in Dental Hygiene.

Department Chair, Dental Hygiene

Job Summary: The Department Chair provides leadership in managing, planning, and implementing the Dental Hygiene associate degree program in support of University, campus, and/or departmental goals in order to assure compliance with programmatic accreditation and/or licensure, internal consistency, and graduate outcomes that meet workplace and placement expectations.  Participates in budget preparation and fiscal administration, curriculum development and coordination, determination of teaching assignments, supervision and evaluation of faculty, design and operation of program facilities, and selection/coordination of program specific external facilities and instruction.  Provides professional leadership and support for teaching faculty; serves as a mentor and facilitator for faculty assigned; and enables an environment which fosters creativity, responsiveness, and self-responsibility.

Qualifications: 

  • Masters degree with the appropriate coursework in the subject area being managed for faculty teaching applied general education courses required.
           
  • Current  Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) or Dentist (DDS) license required with current CPR Card. (Certified Instructor Card preferred) .  
           
  • Must have a minimum of four (4) years of teaching or related practical work experience in the subject field.
           
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years experience in administration in academia or in the field of specialty with one year teaching experience required. 
           
  • Knowledge and evidence of strong supervisory and management skills as applicable to specialized program area.  
           
  • Knowledge in technological support and delivery of program area and services. 
           
  • Knowledge of state, federal and local laws/regulations relating to programs, governmental compliance and other regulatory standards such as Title IV, ACICS, CODA, and other accreditation standards. 

Dental Hygiene Instructor

Job Summary:  Under the general supervision of the Department Chair delivers class and/or clinical instructions according to an approved course syllabus using accepted and effective educational methodology; advises and tutors students; maintains current and accurate attendance and grade records; remains current in applicable program field; participates in faculty meetings, instructional seminars and in-service training sessions.  Participates in school activities such as faculty meetings, student functions, graduation exercises, open houses, new student orientations, and advisory board meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Master s or doctorate degree in healthcare related field preferred. 
  • Current registered Dental Hygienist license in the state of California with no pending actions.  Current healthcare provider CPR with Automated External Defibrillator required. 
  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years of dental hygiene work experience.  Previous teaching experience preferred.  
  • Must possess interpersonal skills, follow through with duties, provide attention to detail, and ability to motivate others.
