Dental Hygiene Program Director
Western Career College

Under direct supervision of the Dean of Education, the Dental Hygiene Program Director is responsible for the coordination and administration of duties directly related to the dental hygiene program and teaching classes as scheduled. Program Directors are expected to show positive outcomes for stated program and course objectives and learning outcomes. The Program Director is expected to participate in college governance, committees, and task forces. Other duties include Related Educational Requirements such as class preparation, attending educational, and campus meeting, and various functions and duties directly related to the program or the operations of the campus.

Educational Requirements:

The position requires an individual that is a current Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) with a completed Masters or PhD degree or is currently enrolled in a masters or higher degree program. A DDS with direct experience in education is also acceptable credentials for the Program Director role.
   
Knowledge and Abilities:

The ideal candidate must possess a thorough knowledge of the specific program requirements, accreditation and approval standards. Must demonstrate ability to teach from a standardized curriculum. Knowledge of WCC policies and procedures; strong leadership abilities; strong communication abilities; interpersonal skills; demonstrated organizational skills. In addition to the knowledge and abilities, the following specific experience is required for Program Directors:

  • Prior supervisory experience indicating the ability to provide flexible leadership, coaching and development to faculty members who have a variety of experiences, personal attributes and backgrounds
  • Prior experience implementing institutional or program effectiveness plans
  • Experience in programmatic accreditation and regulatory compliance
  • Experience writing program self-evaluation reports and responding to agency findings is required
  • Must have clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have effective computer skills
  • Must be flexible to meet schedules that include evening and possible weekend hours
