CAL-HY-PAC
CDHA
The Political Voice of the California Dental Hygienists’ Association
What is CAL-HY-PAC?
CDHA has a Political Action Committee (PAC) which is a voluntary, non-profit, non-partisan, political advocacy committee. CAL-HY-PAC is an essential part of CDHA’s government relations program.
Why CAL-HY-PAC?
CAL-HY-PAC is the only California PAC that represents dental hygienists. The PAC establishes relationships with California legislators who believe that dental hygienists are an important and essential part of the health care system.
CAL-HY-PAC also enables dental hygienists to educate and support candidates for the California legislature who believe in our interests, concerns and goals. This joint effort provides a needed strong voice for our profession.
How CAL-HY-PAC Works
We encourage and welcome your input and recommendations for those candidates who will receive support from CAL-HY-PAC. Candidate recommendations go to the PAC Committee for review and selection. The PAC consists of 6-10 dental hygienists who are appointed by the CDHA president.
CDHA’s Most Important Legislative Victories
- The establishment of a dental hygiene regulatory committee DHCC so that RDH’s are now the regulatory authority for the practice of dental hygiene in California
- Establishment of a new category for dental hygienists: RDHAP (RDH in Alternative Practice)
- Allow the RDHAP to provide services without a prescription from a dentist for 18 months.
- Allow dental hygienists to place antimicrobial/antibiotic medicaments that do not have to be later removed
