curriculum, developed by Joan M. Davis, RDH, MS, an assistant
professor, dental hygiene, is based upon principles set
forth in core competency in patient/client care by the
American Dental Education Association. In addition, the
program, which can be found online at www.siu.edu/~hcp/tobacco/index.html,
is based on the Public Health Service’s 2000 Treating
Tobacco Use and Dependence: A Clinical Practice Guideline,
the stages of change and health behavior change models.
