First Smiles Oral Health Program
Detection and prevention of Early Childhood Caries

Early Childhood Caries (ECC) is the most prevalent chronic childhood disease in California - and is also the most preventable. Approximately 40 percent of children enter kindergarten having had caries. The goal of First Smiles is to create programs for all California Children, prenatal to 5 years of age, including children with disablilities and other special needs, to ensure they enter school healthy and ready to learn.
