This year’s campaign is focused on the theme, “Are You Up to Date? Vaccinate!,” to remind people of all ages of the importance of immunization.

Getting immunized is a lifelong, life-protecting community effort. People of all ages should be vaccinated against a variety of diseases. By staying up-to-date on the recommended vaccines, individuals can protect themselves, their families and friends and their communities from serious, life-threatening infections.

Children are particularly vulnerable to infection, so most vaccines are given during the first five to six years of life. Other immunizations are recommended during adolescent or adult years and, for certain vaccines, booster immunizations are recommended throughout life. Vaccines against certain diseases that may be encountered while traveling outside of the U.S. are recommended for travelers to specific regions of the world.

As health care workers being up to date with your immunizations is even more important. Take a moment and reflect on whether you are up-to-date with your own immunizations More information
